Structural Challenges Addressed by Epics DAO
Epics DAO recognizes that open-source software is indispensable as a foundation for modern society and technology, while also acknowledging the structural instability surrounding its long-term maintenance and sustainability.
This instability does not stem from a lack of value or significance. Rather, despite substantial work and meaningful contributions being continuously made, these efforts are often difficult to visualize, leading to fragmented evaluation and intermittent engagement.
Without sustained participation, technical debt and maintenance burdens tend to accumulate, ultimately undermining the durability of the underlying infrastructure. Epics DAO approaches this issue by reexamining the cycle itself as a structural problem.
Design Philosophy of Buidlers Guild
Buidlers Guild is designed as one concrete implementation addressing these structural challenges.
In competitive card games, a deck only functions when different types of cards—such as Magic, Equipment / Tools, and Monsters—are combined. No single category can stand alone; strategy emerges only through interaction and mutual dependency among roles.
Dark attribute cards, within this structure, are responsible for directly interfering with opponents’ actions and underlying conditions.
Through control, restriction, and irreversible transformations of the board state, they redefine the operational assumptions of the entire deck.
Through control, restriction, and irreversible transformations of the board state, they redefine the operational assumptions of the entire deck.
The three roles in Buidlers Guild—Dev, Degen, and Investor—are intentionally designed to mirror this card structure.
Each role differs in nature and motivation, yet the system cannot function if any one of them is absent.
Each role differs in nature and motivation, yet the system cannot function if any one of them is absent.
Cards are not granted as rewards or speculative instruments. Instead, they function as structural components that illustrate how roles interact, conflict, and combine. Just as a deck only becomes viable through the integration of Magic, Equipment / Tools, and Monsters, Dev, Degen, and Investor are likewise incomplete in isolation.
By making cards tangible, the points at which each role operates, conflicts, and gains meaning through combination become visible as structure rather than explanation. Buidlers Guild is designed with this relational premise embedded from the outset.
