Solana Snapshot Fast Download | SLV - The Toolkit for Solana Devs

Introduction

You can speed up Solana node syncs by using the SLV snapshot download hosts. This guide explains how to download Solana mainnet snapshots with the SLV CLI. If you start or update a node without snapshots, syncing can take many hours (10+ hours in some Asia regions) or even fail. The SLV community mirrors snapshots across multiple regions so nodes can come online quickly worldwide.

ERPC network only

Snapshot Fast Download is available only inside the ERPC network. Using ERPC bare metal servers enables this feature by default. Purchase bare metal servers via the Validators DAO official Discord: Join the Discord.

Regions

Each endpoint serves two files: snapshot.tar.bz2 and incremental-snapshot.tar.bz2. Pull from your nearest region for the fastest sync.

Download snapshots with SLV command

The SLV CLI provides slv rpc get:snapshot to download snapshots in parallel to inventory-registered RPC nodes. It uses wget to fetch the latest files from the selected region into /mnt/snapshot.

Use the node name registered in ~/.slv/inventory.mainnet.rpcs.yml. You can select multiple nodes and run this at once.

Recover instantly by logging into a node

If you need a manual, immediate recovery (e.g., after a failure or disk swap), follow these steps to re-fetch a snapshot:

sudo find /mnt/ledger/ -mindepth 1 -not -name "contact-info.bin" -delete
cd /mnt/snapshot && wget -c --trust-server-names https://solana-snapshot-fra.erpc.global/snapshot.tar.bz2 && wget -c --trust-server-names https://solana-snapshot-fra.erpc.global/incremental-snapshot.tar.bz2
sudo systemctl start solv

Stop the solv service, clear /mnt/snapshot, and clean /mnt/ledger (keep contact-info.bin).
Swap in the nearest endpoint from the table above and download both snapshot.tar.bz2 and incremental-snapshot.tar.bz2.
Start solv to resume from the fresh snapshot immediately.
